Best Movies to Watch in April 2018

Ahh!! Summer is already here.. I can already feel the heat and it’s bad, terrible actually. So I have curated a movie list escpecially for you guys (just like every other month), so you can go grab your popcorns, your soft drinks whatever you like and cool off the heat with your favorite actors/actresses up in the large screens.

April 6, Friday

#1. A Quiet Place

Genre: Suspense/Thriler

Director: John Krasinski

Cast: John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe

The official film poster say, “If they Hear you, they Hunt you“. That’s terrifying enough for a horror film. So with a new month comes new films, we will start this month with Emily Blunt starrer horror movie “A Quiet Place“.

The film is co-written, directed by JohnKrasianski who will also be seen sharing the screen with Emily Blunt (his real wife). The film is set on a farm and will take on a horrible, suspenseful journey of a family who are terrorized by the evil. It will be amazing to see the husband-wife duo sharing the screen together.

#2. Chappaquiddick

Genre: Drama/Thriller/True Story

Director: John Curran

Cast: Kate Mara, Ed Helms, Jason Clarke, Bruce Dern

The 1969, Kennedy scandal is all revisited in this thriller Film “Chappaquiddick“. The death of a young woman Mary Jo Kopechne the campaign strategist who worked for the Senator, as Senator Ted Kennedy drove his car off the infamous bridge are all revealed in this film. This incident took a major turnover in the history of the presidential election and we will all get to witness it once again.

#3. Blockers

Genre: Comedy

Director: Kay Cannon

Cast: Leslie Mann, John Cena, Ike Barinholtz

From the writer of Pitch Perfect, this film is the directional debut of Kay Cannon.

Being parents is really hard but being parents to teens is so effing hard with all the hormones and adrenaline rush of trying out new stuffs, sex and what not!

So when parents John Cena, Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz finds out their three teenage daughters made a pact of losing their virginity on prom night, they go on a full one-night operation in order to stop them from sealing the deal.

#4. You Were Never Really Here

Genre: Thriller/Drama

Director: Lynne Ramsay

Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Ekaterina Samnov, Alex Manette

This intense thriller film, is based on the novella by the same name written by Jonathan Ames. The film will tell us about a tough ex veteran, Joe (Joaquin Phoenix) who rescues missing girls for his livelihood. But on one such mission to rescue a girl from a child-prostitution ring he lands himself into deep trouble which may either result as his last mission or his awakening.

#5. The Endless

Genre: Sci-fi/Horror

Director: Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead

Cast: Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Emily Montague

The film follows two brothers (Justin and Moorhead) in this UFO chasing plot. The two brothers now adults receive cryptic video messages about UFO. Looking for closure they are forced to embarked on the same deadly UFO cult, that they escaped ten years ago.

#6. Sweet Country

Genre: Drama/Western

Director: Warwick Thornton

Cast: Sam Neill, Bryan Brown, Hamilton Morris

The film is set in Australia’s rugged Northern Territory and centers around Sam (Hamilton Morris) an aboriginal man and Harry, an ex veteran preacher. Their relationship went from argumentative to murder when Sam shoots Harry in self-defense. Sam runs away with his wife but the details from the investigation tells otherwise.

April 11, Wednesday

#7. Beirut

Genre: War/Drama

Director: Brad Anderson

Cast: John Hamm, Rosamund Pike, Shea Whigham

In this geopolitical thriller, John Hamm plays a U.S diplomat who is hiding in Lebanon after a terrible accident back at home. After a decade, he is forced back to work by CIA operative, Rosamund Pike to negotiate for the life of his friend in war-torn Beirut.

April 13, Friday

#8. Rampage

Genre: Action/Horror/Video Game/Disaster

Director: Brad Peyton

Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Jake Lacy

The film is based on the 1980s Midway video game, where Dwayne Johnson plays a primatologist, David Okoye who is an introvert but loves George to death, George is a highly intelligent sliverback gorilla who has been under his care since birth. Unfortunately during an experiment things goes awry and George becomes a monster. Now Dwayne and his amateur geneticist (Naomie) must find an antidote to stop George and other genetically enhanced animals from tearing America apart.

#9. Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare

Genre: Supernatural/Suspense/Thriller

Director: Jeff Wadlow

Cast: Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violet Beane

We all love some sneaky games like Truth or Dare, right? Obviously, duhh we get to know so much or we get to do others that we don’t have the guts to tell them in their faces. It’s a perfect sneaky and sleazy game ever made. So many secrets come out and we quite enjoy it.

So from the producers of Happy Death Day and Get Out we have another supernatural film this April, Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare and the film will show us a group of friends having a good time playing the infamous game, but what will happen when mysterious things starts occurring when somebody lies or refuse the dare.

#10. Sgt. Stubby : An American Hero

Genre: Animation/Historical

Director: Richard Lanni

Cast: Gerard Depardieu, Helena Bonham Carter, Logan Lerman

This family/adventure film is a true story about a stray Boston terrier mutt (Stubby) who is adopted by an American soldier on the onset of World War World I and tells his journey through out the war. He eventually becomes the first dog to get promoted to the rank of Sergeant in U.S Army history.

April 20, Friday

#11. Duck Duck Goose

Genre: Comedy/Family/Animation

Director: Christopher Jenkins

Cast: Jim Gaffigan, Carl Reiner, Stephen Fry

In this animated family film, Peng is a care-free, high-flying bachelor goose who just lost his freedom when he got injured in flight and after rescuing two young ducklings (Chi and Chao) from a dangerous cat, Banzou. The ducklings become his responsibility and with winter coming he takes them on a beautiful long journey to south through mountains, lakes , river valleys to reunite them with their parents.

#12. Super Troopers 2

Genre: Comedy/Crime/Sequel

Director: Jay Chandrashekar

Cast: Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme

The film centers around five Super Troopers- Rabbit, Throny, Frosty, Mac, Farva and Foster who are tasked with setting up a new highway patrol station in a disputed international border between U.S and Canada. When five wacky police officers are given a task they are bound to be some comedic outcomes.

April 27, Friday

#13. I Feel Pretty

Genre: Comedy

Director: Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein

Cast: Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Emily Ratajkowski

In this comedic film, starring Amy Schumer is an insecure and unsatisfied woman with her looks. One day she feels this weird after having conked and sees herself as this beautiful and sexy woman and her life changes instantly but what will happen when she realizes that her body never changed only her mind. Will she be able to accept that?

#14. Animal Crackers

Genre: Animation/Adventure/Family

Director: Tony Bancroft and Scott Christian Sava

Cast: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Danny DeVito

Owen Huntington’s life is quite a bore with a meaningless job, barely making ends meet. One day he inherits a large rundown circus from a distant uncle he never knew. He finds a magical box inside the circus, Animal Crackers which gives him the ability to transform himself into any of the animals he wants inside the box.

#15. Traffik

Genre: Thriller/Crime/Action

Director: Deon Taylor

Cast: Paula Patton, Omar Epps, Missi Pyle, William Fichtner

In this thriller drama, a couple, Brea and a John are off to a romantic getaway to a secluded estate in the mountains is soon terrorized when a gang of bikers invade the peaceful countryside and will stop at nothing to hide their secrets from the world. Together the couple with another couple alone in the mountains must fight to survive against the dangerous intruders.

#16. Disobedience

Genre: Drama/Romance/Adaptation

Director: Sebastian Lelio

Cast: Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, Alessandro Nivola

The film is an adaptation of the Naomi Alderman novel ‘Disobedience‘ and follows the story of a woman who returns to her conservative community where she was rejected due to a forbidden crush she had on her childhood friend. Now all grown up the passion, the intensity has increased and they both dive into a world of exploration of life and sexuality.

#17. Avengers: Infinity War

Genre: Action/Adventure/Sci-fi/Superhero

Director: Anthony Russo and Joe Russo

Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner

And now, hold your breath we have saved the best for you. Avengers: Infinity War is finally coming to the theaters and this is it.

It’s on.

We love war films and this is going to be epic because obviously so many powerful, super humans are coming together for an epic battle of the universe to fight against the one powerful Thanos, who has come back to claim all the six Infinity Stones talked all across the Marvel Comics. The fate of the planet and the whole universe now lays in the hands of our superheroes who have saved us from all the evil that has tried to take over our planet or the universe in the past.

THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC!!!
