Highly Anticipated Movies to Watch this October!

With Halloween just around the corner, October has much thrills and screams ready for you. Wait, Jigsaw is coming. Aren’t you excited? You may also get some cool inspirations​ for your Halloween​ costumes. So here is a list of highly anticipated movies this Halloween season. 

October 6th 

#1. BLADE RUNNER 2049 

Genre : Action/Sci-fi/Sequel



A sequel to the 1982 film directed by Denise Villeneuve, starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as the former blade runner, Rick Deckard. Ryan Gosling, Officer K, the new blade runner, goes on a quest to find the former blade runner after discovering a long lost secret which has possible threat to the world. The only problem is that the former blade runner has disappeared almost thirty years ago. 

#2. 2307 : WINTER’S DREAM 

Genre : Sci-fi/Drama 

Set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, the earth is is completely frozen and uninhabitable. Small groups of the remaining human civilization has taken shelter underground unable to survive the sub-artic temperature. For survival, scientists​ began using humanoids. When the same humanoids started posing a threat to the humans, an elite group of soldiers are sent to hunt the humanoids and bring peace to the surviving humanity. 

#3. BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 

Genre : Crime/Action/Drama

A former boxer, Bradley (Vincent Vaughn) loses his job and his unsuccessful marriage is about to end. Accepting the fact, he won’t get another job, he started working as a drug courier ran by his old pal. All was good, until he got caught in a gun fight and thrown in the jail. In order to survive jail, he starts to commit crime for his enemies. 

#4. UNA

Genre : Drama

Directed by Benedict Andrews, the movie is based on the play, Blackbird, written by David Harrower. Rooney Mara portrays a young woman, Una who pays a visit to an older​ man (Ben Mendelsohn) to demands answers, with whom she once had sexual relations when she was only 13 years​ old. 

October 13th 

#5. HAPPY DEATH DAY 

Genre : Horror/Thriller 

A horror movie  directed by Christopher B. Landon. Theresa, the queen bee of her sorority lives the high life, controlling everyone. She was unexpectedly​ murdered one day, but she wakes up in the morning to find it’s the same day she is murdered​. In this mystery thriller she has to find her killer before her lives run out. 

#5. THE FOREIGNER 

Genre : Action/Thriller 

From the director of Casino Royale, Martin Campbell, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan this movie will be an action packed combined with martial arts and some humor (hopefully). A peaceful restaurant owner in London’s Chinatown is forced to reevaluate his moral principles to avenge his daughter’s​ murder, committed by a group of Irish terrorists when the law system fails him justice to his dead daughter.  

#7. MARSHALL

Genre : Drama/True Story 

Based on a True Story of the early career of Supreme Court Judge Thurgood Marshall and starring Chadwick Boseman , Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, Dan Stevens, Sterling K. Brown and James Cromwell. The film follows a highly published court case of a black Chauffeur (Sterling) who is charged of sexual assault and attempted murder of a wealthy​ socialite (Kate Hudson). Marshall (Boseman) teams up with a young courageous lawyer Samuel (Josh Gad) and defends the chauffeur. A trial that raised many questions against racism and anti semitism. This trail led to the foundation of NAACP legal defense fund. 

#8. THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES 

Genre : Comedy 

Adult siblings ( Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Elizabeth Marvel) has lived their entire lives under the shadow of their strong-willed father (Dustin Hoffman). The movie follows the impression of their father in their lives in an​ emotional and humorous ways. 

October 20

#9. GEOSTORM 

Genre : Action/Sci-fi/Adventure/Disaster

Highly anticipated movie directed by Dean Devlin, and starring Katheryn Winnick, Gerard Butler, Abbie Cornish, Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris and Robert Sheehan. The incoming of natural disasters has threatened the Earth after a series of inevitable events. The world leaders come together to form a plan to build a network of satellites​ for the control of the climate and safety of the people. When problems arise in the satellites, Jake (Gerard) and his brother Max (Sturgess) are called upon to solve the malfunction before time runs​ out, which may result in a worldwide geostorm and wipe out humanity. 

#10. The SNOWMAN 

Genre : Mystery/Drama/Adaptation

From the director of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Toman Alfredson and  based on the UK terrifying bestselling novel by Jo Nesbo, starring Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson and Charlotte Gainsbourg. When a dead body is found on the first snow of winter, elite detective (Fassbender) suspects an old serial killer. On the hopes of catching​ the killer before snowfall, he teams up with a brilliant recruit (Ferguson) and begins investigating the murder which leads him to unearth several decades buried cold cases. 

#11. ONLY THE BRAVE 

Genre : Drama/True Story 

Based on a true story of Granite Mountain Hotshots, starring Miles Teller, Josh Brolin, Jennifer Connelly,  James Bridges and Taylor Kitsch, a heroic tale of local fire fighters that with hope, determination, will and sacrifice saves thousands of human without caring about themselves. 

#12. THE KILLING OF THE SACRED DEER 

Genre : Drama/Suspense

A psychological horror-thriller movie starring Nicole Kidman and Collin Farrell. The movie has been deemed to be very  brutal and disturbing. A doctor’s​ life, living with his wife and children is turned upside down when he takes in his former patient’s​ young boy. 
October 27th

#13. JIGSAW 

Genre : Horror/Suspense/Sequel

This is another highly anticipated​ horror movie right by the time of Halloween, the movie is the eight installment of The Saw franchise, directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, starring Tobin Bell as John Karmer/Jigsaw. When bodies pile up around the cities, each with gruesome death, an investigation is started which leads to John Karmer aka Jigsaw. But it’s impossible as he is dead for over a decade. Get ready, as screams will fill up the theaters this Halloween. 

#14. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE 

Genre : War/Drama 

 Based on the novel by the same name by David Finkel, directed by Jason Hall and starring Miles Teller, Amy Schumer, Haley Bennett, Jole Cole and Beulah Koale. Set on a post war environment, a group of American soldiers​ struggles living with their families and a civilian life after returning from Iraq. The memories of war threatened their peace even after leaving the battlefield​ long ago. 

#15. SUBURBICON 

Genre : Action/Drama

Under the direction of George Clooney, starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac. Suburbicon is a peaceful suburban community in 1960s with everything​ that an ideal community would have. But something lurks beneath the tranquil neighborhood. Matt Damon, must unmasked the town’s dark sides​, he must end the violence, deceit and betrayal lurking beneath suburbicon.
