In this heartwarming film,Jim Carrey plays the role of Grinch, who lives alone outside the town of Whoville, hates celebrating Christmas and the town people. But a six year old girl, Cindy Lou (Taylor Momsen) who believes everyone has a good side sets out to make things good for the Grinch once again. The film won Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. 

14. HOME ALONE 3 (1997)

Can you seriously imagine a Christmas without a Home Alone film? Hell No. This is the third film in the Home Alone series but there is no Macaulay Culkin, (Sigh!) But don’t worry the film stars a very lively little Alex D. Linz as the naughty,  resourceful boy who is left alone at home. But soon a gang of wanted North Korean terrorist group breaks into the house to retrieve a small chip. Little did they know that the little monster who they underestimated will make their plan a hell difficult to execute.

An American comedy film starring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd is often said to be the modern version of Mark Twain’s classic novel, ‘The Prince and The Pauper‘ where an arrogant investor cross paths with a homeless street hustler in an elaborate bet conspired by two insensitive millionaires. The film won Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Denholm Elliott) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Jamie Lee Curtis).

The film stars Macaulay Culkin who plays the role of Kevin McCallister, a young troublemaker who is accidentally left alone by his family during Christmas Vacation. Kevin, must protect himself and the house from a pair of burglars who took the opportunity of the young boy left alone at the house.

An American musical romantic comedy film starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. The film centers around a successful musical group who plans a fun filled musical show to save their former commanding general’s quaint Vermont Inn. The film also features the songs of Irving Berlin and a new version of the title song, ‘White Christmas’.

I can’t get over the Home Alone series, (Haha). We are back again with the sequel of Home Alone, most popular and successful Christmas comedy film. The film stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin while Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern  plays the Wet Bandits. who was accidentally left behind again by his family in the big city of New York where he finds himself confronting the Wet Bandits. 9. A Christmas Prince (2017)

Director : Alex Zamm

The most recent American Christmas romantic comedy film starring Rose Mclver, Ben Lamb, Alice Krige, Daniel Fathers, Tahirah Sharif and Sarah Douglas. I love royals a lot, their lifestyle and glitz and glamour always get me. The film revolves around a young aspiring journalist, Amber Moore is sent abroad  undercover as a tutor to get the inside scoop on Crown Prince, Richard, who is known for his notorious playboy nature  and is about to take the throne following his father’s death. Rumors about to begin that the crown prince will abdicate,  Amber digs through the mud to prove the rumors right and also falling in love with the crown prince.

8. BAD SANTA (2003)

It’s all good, happy Christmas films in this list but not this one. We all need to watch some black comedy crime films too and this one is perfect. The film stars Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox, Lauren Graham, Brett Kelly, Lauren Tom, John Ritter and Bernie Mac. Professional thiefs Willie (Billy Bob) and Marcus (Tony Cox) rob departmental stores dressing up as Santa Claus and An Elf every year on Christmas Eve. But their plans go awry when they befriends an eight year old kid. This film was infact John Ritter’s last live action appearance and the film was dedicated to Ritter’s memory. Go enjoy the film and sing a silent prayer for John Ritter.

7. GREMLINS (1984)

Director : Joe Dante

A comedy horror film starring Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Polly Holliday and Frances Lee McCain. The film was commercially successful and continued with a sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch. The film is about a young boy, Billy whose father brings him an exotic pet, mogwai from Chinatown. The pet came with a very strict set of weird rules. When Billy breaks the rules, chaos and mayhem ensued.

First animated film to get nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, The Nightmare before Christmas is a dark fantasy film that tells a story of Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween town bored of the Halloween routine stumbles upon ‘Christmas Town’ and is enchanted. His hopes of celebrating Christmas results in a disaster and funny consequences.


Director : Henry Koster

Also known as Cary and the Bishop’s Wife, is a romantic comedy feature film based on the novel of the same name by Robert Nathan. The film stars Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven. When a Bishop’s efforts to raise money to build a new cathedral was not met, an angel in a human form enters his life to help him build the cathedral and also help him with his broken marriage.

A critically acclaimed film, this animated television special based on the comic strip Peanuts, tells about the story of Charlie Brown, who was advised to direct a neighborhood Christmas play by his friend, Lucy to make Christmas cheerful once again. But his friends insulted him and ignored his play. Charlie was once again upset but Linus makes him understand the true meaning of Christmas and Charlie sets out to celebrate Christmas with the Peanut gang.

I love classic films so much. The Shop around the Corner, is an American romantic comedy film starring Margaret Sullavan, James Stewart and Frank Morgan. The film is about two clerks, Alfred (James Stewart) and Klara (Margaret Sullavan) working at a gift shop in Budapest who despise each other on everything but have secretly fallen in love with their respective pen pals, without realizing the fact that they are each other’s pen pal.

2. MIRACLE ON 34th STREET (1947)

Director : George Seaton

Academy Award Winner and critically acclaimed film, Miracle On 34th Street is an American Christmas comedy drama based on a story by Valentine Davies. The film stars Maureen O’Hara, John Payne, Natalie Wood and Edmund Gwenn. The film tells the story of a kind old man, who is put in an asylum after claiming to be a Santa Claus is defended by a young lawyer who argues in court that he is the real thing. The film won a slews of  Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Edmund Gwenn) , Best Writing, Original Story and Best Screenplay.


Director : Frank Capra

A traditional Christmas Film, It’s a Wonderful Life is an American Christmas fantasy comedy-drama film based on the short story The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern. The film stars James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore and Henry Travers. The film tells a story about George (James Stewart) who has given up everything to help others. When trying to commit suicide on Christmas Eve, an angel (Henry Travers) is sent down to earth, to make George realize how his life has impacted on others and what would have happened if he was never born. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture.
